Billy Duffy is a highly respected English musician, best known as the guitarist and co-founder of the iconic British rock band The Cult. Born William Henry Duffy on June 12, 1961, in Manchester, England, Duffy's distinctive guitar playing became a hallmark of The Cult's sound. 

His musical journey began in the late 1970s, but it was the formation of Death Cult, which soon evolved into The Cult, in 1981 alongside Ian Astbury that brought him widespread recognition. Duffy's guitar work is characterized by its powerful riffs, atmospheric textures, and melodic sensibilities, drawing influences from artists like Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, and T. Rex. His signature look, including his striking blonde hair and Gibson Les Paul guitar, became as recognizable as his music.

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, The Cult achieved significant success with a string of critically acclaimed albums and hit singles. Key works include albums such as 'Love' (1985), 'Electric' (1987), and 'Sonic Temple' (1989), which produced enduring anthems like "She Sells Sanctuary," "Love Removal Machine," and "Fire Woman." Duffy's contributions were central to the band's ability to blend hard rock energy with gothic and post-punk elements, carving out a unique niche in the rock landscape.

Beyond his work with The Cult, Billy Duffy has also explored various side projects and collaborations. He briefly played with the band Drive in 1984 and has been involved in numerous sessions and guest appearances over the years. His distinctive guitar style has made him a sought-after musician, and he has been recognized for his significant impact on rock guitar playing. Duffy continues to tour and record with The Cult, maintaining their legacy as a vital force in rock music.

During the 2020 Covid-19 lockdown in the UK Billy Duffy has been creating short videos of his guitar parts written for The Cult songs for his regular "Falcon Friday" social media updates celebrating his Gretsch guitar.
The choice of songs was decided by a vote across all his social channels and with the lockdown coming to an end in June this was the final song.

The rock classic, recorded at Olympic studios in Barnes and produced by Steve Brown. This was recorded and released as a stand-alone single but it was included on the band's next album, 'Love'. Though it spent months in the UK charts, and was one of the best selling tracks of the year, it actually never reached the top ten. It was the last release to feature the original Cult drummer Nigel Preston.
