Moore's illustrious career began with bands like Skid Row (not the American band of the same name) and Thin Lizzy. He is perhaps most famously associated with the Irish rock band Thin Lizzy, with whom he played on and off during the 1970s and early 1980s, contributing significantly to albums like "Jailbreak" and "Black Rose: A Rock Legend."

Beyond his work with Thin Lizzy, Moore embarked on a highly successful solo career, releasing a string of critically acclaimed albums. His solo work often delved deeply into blues, showcasing his virtuosic guitar playing and soulful vocals. Key albums from his solo discography include "Grinding Stone" (1973), "Back on the Streets" (1978), "Corridors of Power" (1982), "Victims of the Future" (1983), "Run for Cover" (1985), "Wild Frontier" (1987), and the highly influential blues album "Still Got the Blues" (1990), which achieved significant international success. The title track from "Still Got the Blues" became one of his signature songs.

Moore was also a member of the supergroup G-Force and collaborated with numerous other artists, including Greg Lake and Phil Lynott. His guitar playing was characterized by its melodic sensibility, powerful tone, and bluesy phrasing, earning him comparisons to legends like Jimi Hendrix and Peter Green. Thin Lizzy are a hard rock band formed in Dublin, Ireland in 1969. Two of the founding members, drummer Brian Downey and bass guitarist and lead vocalist Phil Lynott, met while still in school. Lynott led the group throughout their recording career of twelve studio albums, writing most of the material. The singles "Whiskey in the Jar" (a traditional Irish ballad), "Jailbreak", and "The Boys Are Back in Town" were major international hits. After Lynott's death in 1986, various incarnations of the band emerged over the years based initially around guitarists Scott Gorham and John Sykes, though Sykes left the band in 2009. Gorham later continued with a new line-up including Downey.
