Stephen Gately was an Irish singer, songwriter, and dancer, best known as a member of the hugely successful Irish pop group Boyzone. Born on June 17, 1976, in Dublin, Ireland, Gately became a household name in the 1990s as one of the lead vocalists in the quintet.

Boyzone achieved massive popularity with a string of hit singles and albums, including "No Matter What," "Picture of You," and "Words." The group sold millions of records worldwide and became one of Britain and Ireland's most popular boy bands. Gately's charismatic stage presence and distinctive vocal contributions were central to the group's appeal.

Following Boyzone's initial split in 2000, Stephen Gately embarked on a solo career. He released his debut solo album, "Joyin' My Life," in 2004, which featured the singles "I Believe" and "Bring It On." While his solo work showcased a different side to his artistry, he remained fondly associated with his Boyzone success.

Beyond his music career, Gately was also known for his role in the West End musical "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat." He also made television appearances and was an advocate for LGBTQ+ rights.

Stephen Gately's life was tragically cut short when he passed away on October 10, 2009, at the age of 33. His death sent shockwaves through the music industry and among his vast fanbase.
